Stuff that makes No Sense

There are many things I don't understand in life. For instance, I know that a cell phone works by using radio waves to bounce a signal off a satellite, but yet I lack any profound sense of how the phone harnesses these waves to transfer information. I don't understand how money is worth anything. It is just paper. There is not enough gold in the Federal Reserve system to back up all the money in circulation so what happens if everyone trades their cash in for gold at the same time? What the fuck are dark matter and cold fusion? If tomorrow I were transported through time to the medieval period I feel that I my general knowledge of how today's world works would be of little use medieval humanity (unless I had this w/ me) because it would not be specific enough. The following are seven things that make little to no sense to me*. Enjoy.

The yellow spheres indicate floaters. The floaters rise through the water due to buoyancy and turn the belt. The hinges must be virtually frictionless for this machine to operate.

Solutions

6. Fourth Dimensional Objects
When I say fourth dimension I am strictly referring to mathematics and not the physics concept of space-time continuum (aka time is the 4th dimension). Below left is a shadow of a Tesseract or 4-D cube. We do not see in 4-D therefore it is impossible to view the physical Tesseract, much like the shadow of a 3-D cube is in 2-D. Beside it is a 4-D sphere or a 3-Sphere. If we had 4-D perspective we would be able to see through 3-D objects.

7. The Pinocchio Paradox
The Walt Disney animated feature tells the story of a boy whose nose grows when he tells a lie. So what happens when Pinocchio says his nose is about to grow? Does his nose not grow because at the time with his good-will intention statement he knew his nose would not grow or does his nose grow because at the time of saying the statement his nose was currently not growing and his prediction that it would grow because of a self-filling lie would be considered a deceitful sentence. One user puts it this way:

It all depends on how the whole lie detection thing works. there will be no paradox if by lying you mean that pinnocchio says something that he thinks isnt true. So if pinnochio thinks his nose will grow, and he says "My nose will grow," then it won't, and Pinnochio will be surprised. If he thinks his nose wont grow, it will. clearly after doing this this for a while Pinnochio wont know whaat to think; he'll just know that he's always somehow surprised by what happens. but there is no paradox. On the other hand, if the nose growing mechanism(NGM) kicks in simply when Pinnochio doesn't tell the truth intentionally or not, then we have a situation.thinkin order toanswwer thisquestion I'll have to fall back on godel's incompleteness theorem and say that such an NGM cannot exist. Foronething,if Pinnochio's NGM worked in this way, he'd be totally omniscient. For example, he could say "the stock market will o up tommorrow" and know if his statement is true by whether or not his nose grows. So here you get into a bunch of time travel paradoxes in addition to the original paradox.

Still, lets assume that this NGM exists. Also, for the sake of te argument, lets assume that the nose grows => Pinnochio lied in addition to Pinnochio lies => nose grows. Consider what would happen if Pinnocchio made this proclamation: Either my nose will grow or I will become a real boy!" The only way for this statement to not cause a paradox is for Pinnochio to not become a real boy. So if somehow the universe does whatever it can to avoid paradoxes, it will turn Pinnochio into a real boy. Point of fact: Pinnochio is omnipotent.

In conclusion I would like to say that, to those that think in the present-past tense; you've got to be kidding me. I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that he has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like. For the most part these illustions are just common sense.
